Presentation

TCKT is an application oriented R&D institute, accredited test lab and a subsidiary of the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria. Founded in 2002 and being an independent entity since 2008, our team works on interdisiciplinary questions regarding sustainable plastics application and recycling. One of the focal points in our research is to investigate biobased materials as an alternative to conventional ones, but with a holistic view over the whole life cycle from cradle to grave.

Role in the project

TCKTs main focus in the project is on demonstrating the potential of composites based on flax and biobased resin by an automated tape laying process. With the novel laying head, supplied by partner Propoint, we will upgrade our tape laying setup and generate a “wing” demonstrator, which will be manufactured by an automated tape laying process, and subsequently be infused with the resin and cured. We will investigate the capabilities of such automated laying processes and will also compare the achieved composite properties with such of conventional ones.
